This was one of the biggest operations we have ever been involved in and a major milestone in Sisk’s work on the York Central project. Having worked with Sisk on the site for four years, we had seen a great deal of work go into reaching this moment.
The bridge installation had to take place after midnight, when power to the railway lines could be switched off. Huge steel sections of the new bridge were then lifted into position over the tracks by a 95-metre-high crane.
We captured the bridge lift over several nights using drones, time-lapse cameras and ground photography. It involved some long nights of flying, but it was worth it to document such an exciting and historic moment for York.
